Tuition $225/person  •  30 max. number of students  •  Registration deadline September 19, 2010

Join us as we paint around the historic town of Council Grove, KS.  In this workshop, we will be painting outdoors from life.  We will concentrate on composition — line, shape, value and color.  What inspired you to paint a particular scene?  By focusing on this one idea, the Plein air experience can be less intimidating.  Participants will receive individual attention geared toward their skill level and we will all benefit from working as a group. Workshop will be held rain or shine!  Be prepared to paint in a variety of weather.  If adverse weather keeps us indoors, subject matter for indoor painting will be provided or you can bring your own reference material.

About the Instructors

Cally Krallman (www.callykrallman.com)

“I have been painting in the Midwest, primarily Kansas for 15 years. I have traveled to many places but am still drawn to the simplistic beauty of Kansas. Many people think of Kansas as just a flat agricultural state, but in fact it is full of wonderful rolling hills, tree lined rivers and other unique land formations. Our four seasons create a myriad of colors worthy of any artists’ palette.”

Cally received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Washburn University in 1981. She exhibits her work at galleries in Topeka, Manhattan, Kansas City and San Antonio, TX. She was accepted into the Salon International 2008 in San Antonio, TX. Cally took part in the “Homage to the Flint Hills” traveling exhibit which completed its tour with a show in Washington D.C. Cally has also participated in the Art in Embassies program, exhibiting in Tbilisi, Georgia. She has had work accepted into the Oil Painters of America Western Regional. Her work is in many private and corporate collections throughout the United States. She is a member of OPA, American Women Artists and has had work featured in Art Collectors Magazine.

Kim Casebeer (www.kimcasebeer.com)

“I believe the single most important learning experience for a landscape painter, is painting outdoors from life – there is no substitute. I use my outdoor paintings as learning tools and as studies for larger paintings in the studio.”

Kim received her BFA from Kansas State University in 1992. She is a Master Signature Member of the American Women Artists, Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America and the Mid America Pastel Society, as well as a member of the Oil Painters of America. Kim has exhibited in the CM Russell Auction and the CM Russell Museum Show, the American Art in Miniature Show at the Gilcrease Museum, and the Miniatures and More Show at the National Wildlife Museum. She recently received Best of Show for her work in the 2010 Nomades del Arte Invitational Exhibit. Her work has been featured in American Artist, American Art Collector, Fine Art Connoisseur and Southwest Art magazines. Kim exhibits work at galleries in Scottsdale, AZ; Kansas City, MO; Manhattan, KS; Jackson, WY; and Depoe Bay, OR.
